Coming up this week... we will have a quiz over Scale Drawings and Frequency tables/Line Plots on Friday. Our quiz was originally scheduled for Friday, but I was trying to move it up. It appears we will not be ready by Thursday, so it must go on as originally scheduled.  It is only on two sections: Scale Drawings and Frequency Tables/Line Plots.

A Help Session will be held on Thursday morning from 7:30am-8:00am. Please email me by Wednesday afternoon at 4:00pm, to let me know you would like your child to attend.

Wednesday, September 20, 2017 - Today in class, we completed our Frequency Table and Line Plot Notes.   We practiced analyzing data and creating Frequency Tables and Line Plots. Quiz on Friday.

Tuesday, September 19, 2017 - Today in class, we checked our Scale practice from Monday.
We also completed a scale concept check.  Quiz #2 was returned and gone over.

Monday, September 18, 2017 - Today in class, we finished our notes on Scale Drawings and practiced (in OneNote).  No homework.

Coming up this week...We will have Quiz #2 on Friday.  It will cover measurement (metric and customary), as well as, Perimeter and Area.

Thursday, September 14, 2017 - Fill in your log.  Quiz #2 tomorrow.
Today in class, we went over measurement with the metric and customary rulers.  We also practiced area and perimeter problems.

Tuesday, September 12, 2017 - Inclement weather day 2... I hope everyone made it through the storm safely!  I have sent you a new page in your homework section in OneNote.  Today, I would like you to draw a sketch of your room.  Please follow the instructions I sent you in OneNote. I am looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow!

Monday, September 11, 2017 - Inclement weather day... Review your notes and look back at your practice assignments. Our quiz is on Friday.  Stay safe!

Coming up this week... a Help Session will be held on Thursday morning from 7:30 am-8:00 am.  Please email me if you would like your child to attend.  Make sure your child brings his/her questions with them.  This is not a review session, as we review in class. Thursday, September 7, 2017 - Complete the Area and Perimeter practice #8-14 and #30.  You must show your work, by writing the formula plugging in the values and working it out. You will not receive full credit if all of your work is not shown!!

Wednesday, September 6, 2017 -
Complete p.62-63 in textbook, #1-4 all, 7-10 all, 12-34 even.  You do not have to do#26 or 28 if you do not have a ruler.

Tuesday, September 5, 2017 -

Practice measurement skills on the game links provided on your page in OneNote.
Make sure to practice both customary and metric measurements.
If you are having difficulty with a website not showing all pictures or getting all functionality, you may need to allow the flash player plug in.

Wednesday, August 30, 2017 - 
Study for your Test #1 and complete the problems on the Review for Test #1 (in the hw section). The test is tomorrow!

Tuesday, August 29, 2017 - 
Complete the Expressions Practice in the homework section of your OneNote.
Complete ALL of Part 1 and the ODDS in Part 2.

Since your test is on Thursday, take a few minutes to read over your notes.  We will be reviewing in class tomorrow.

Monday, August 28, 2017 -
1. Make sure you have completed your 5 vocabulary terms from Thursday.
2. Read "Clue Words" in OneNote Class Notes section, work 1-8 on Translate into Words.
3. Read "Algebraic Expressions"  in OneNote Class Notes section.

Remember, no remainders!  Use a decimal and add zeros after (as needed).
If it is not a terminating decimal, divide out to 3 decimal places.

4.   987,654 ÷ 12        5.   2350 ÷ 21

The following are examples and explanations meant to help you with your assignment.
Identify the base and the exponent of the power.
 Example:        Base=7     Exponent=3

Write the product as a power.
 Example: 8 x 8 x 8 =  
When asked for the value of a power, it refers to the product after multiplying the base number.

When asked to write the power as a product, write it in expanded form.

7 = 7 x 7 x 7 x 7 x 7
Don't can also look back at the notes taken today in class!

Monday, August 14, 2017 - 6th period did not meet for class today, due to technology deployment. You are not expected to complete the following assignment.

Complete p.6 #1-4, 6-34 even.
All problems must be completed on notebook paper.
I have attached the problem set below.  This is the same as your textbook.

  • Picture Day is on Wednesday, August 9, so bring your picture envelope with you to school on Wednesday.
  • I wanted to let all of you know, I will not be at school on Friday, August 11, as it is college move-in day for my daughter.  Mrs. Dokes will be stepping in for me on Friday.  
  • On Monday, August 21, we will start/finish our school day one hour later, to take full advantage of the solar eclipse.
  • Dawgs 360 is the best way to get involved at GWA.  Please contact Elizabeth McDonnel for all volunteer opportunities on campus.
