Coming up this week... We will have a test on Thursday, February 22, 2018.
The test will cover:
Fraction estimation
Adding and subtracting fractions and mixed numbers
Subtracting mixed numbers with regrouping
Measures of time

We will have a help session on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at 7:30 am- 8:00 am.  If you would like your child to attend the help session, please email me and let me know.  Please have your child bring their questions with them to the help session.  Thank you!

Wednesday, February 21, 2018- Today in class,  we checked p.333 reviewed our concepts for the test, and completed a QR code scavenger hunt covering our test concepts.

The Study Guide for Test #7 is optional...

I have sent a Study Guide to your Content Library - Daily Work.  This is excellent practice for your test...I highly recommend you complete it!  It can only help you!

Tuesday, February 13, 2018 - Finish subtracting mixed numbers practice.  Don't forget to regroup and show your work!

If you were absent today...
We finished our presentations and then worked through our notes on Subtracting Mixed Numbers with regrouping.  There are two documents in your content library- fractions-Class Notes section you will need to copy over into your notebook. The Subtracting Mixed Numbers practice can be found in the content library-fractions-Daily Work.  Please copy this over and complete #1-9

Monday, February 12, 2018 - No assignment.
Today in class we shared our food for Fraction Fun Food Day and we began our presentations.
Coming up... Fraction Fun Food Day is Monday, February 12, 2018.  Students are asked to bring in their cooked recipe to share with their math class as part of this project.  Please discuss your chosen recipe and cooking procedures with your parents.

Friday, February 9, 2018 - 
Please read carefully.  All project information is either explained on the blog or in your Project Tab.  Read it!!!

Attention all classes!!! Due to helping with dance preparations and some classes not being able to work on the presentations...I am offering 10 points extra credit on the project if you are finished and ready to present on Monday.  If you are not ready on Monday, you will need to present on Tuesday (no penalty but no extra credit points). We are still bringing our food on Monday!!!
Finish your 6 slide presentation.  Remember, ALL information for your project is in the Project section of your notebook.  Don't forget to bring in your food on Monday!!!  

If you missed class today...

  • We checked the Quiz prep. Show me your completed assignment when you return.
  • We took Quiz #9.
  • We worked on our presentations (some classes).
Thursday, February 8, 2018 - Complete the Quiz Prep and study for tomorrow's quiz.  Also, the instructions for your Recipe for 20 are in your content library.  1st and 2nd period,  I changed the requirements for this part of the project, please read the page in your content library.

Wednesday, February 7, 2018 - Complete the Get Busy Baking page (in your daily work section) and Half the Recipe (in your project section).

If you were absent today:
Please show me the Doubling your recipe page and the Recipe Card Reading when you return to school.


Tuesday, February 6, 2018 - 
Finish the Recipe Card Reading and complete the project page for Doubling the Recipe (SHOW YOUR WORK).  Remember, you cannot double the recipe if you do not have individual amounts written for your ingredients.  Also, find out how many people your original recipe serves.

If you were absent today:

  • I checked the recipes.  Please show me your recipe upon your return.
  • We checked the Flipgrid - some of you have not posted your Flipgrid, this is a graded assignment.  Get it done as soon as you can.
  • We checked the Map - Adding and Subtracting Fractions page.  Please show this assignment to me upon your return.
  • We discussed the Fraction Food Fun project and moved the information over to our OneNote notebooks. I moved it over for all of my absent friends.  Look in the project tab of your Fraction notebook.
  • Complete the Recipe Card Reading page and then complete the doubling your recipe page (see notes above for today's assignment).
I hope all of our students who are sick get well soon!  We have had a large number of friends absent with the flu and other illnesses.  Please take care and we hope to see you soon!

Digital Learning Day, Monday, February 5, 2018 -

1.)  Find a recipe with five (5) or more ingredients.  Remember, we have friends with nut allergies, so please do not use a recipe with nuts.  In your OneNote Content Library, Daily Work section you will find a Recipe page. Copy it to your notebook and write in your recipe.

Coming up...On Monday, February 12, 2018  we will have our Fraction Fun Food Day, where you will be asked to cook your recipe (at home prior to Monday) and bring it in to share with your class.  We will discuss this further in class this week.😋🍪🍞

2.)  Create a Flipgrid answering the question prompt. Go to the Flipgrid tab at the top of the blog page for all of the information.
Do not read my notes to me!  Give an example and explain.
Remember, I will not post your video for our class to view unless you tell me to!  

3.) Complete the Adding and Subtracting Fraction Practice.  It is found in your Daily Work section of the content library.  Please copy it over into your notebook.
